Typical granule/powder blends contain Magnesium Stearate as an internal lubricant to help in the prevention of tablet sticking and reduce die friction. This often results in softer tablets and poor dissolution.
KIKUSUI EXTERNAL LUBRICATION technology is used to spray a measured amount of lubricant onto punch tips and die bores. This creates a film of lubricant on those surfaces. In addition, an Electrostatic generation device charges the lubricant at the spray nozzle to help with coating efficiency. In turn, typical tableting problems that are associated with the use of internal lubricants can be avoided.
There is a proportional relation between tablet weight and compression force when tablet thickness is steady.
KIKUSUI automatic pressure control system (PCD) controls and stabilizes the tablet weight. During main compression, the load cell sends a force wave to the EPCD. After receiving that force wave, it is then digitalized and compared to the Pre-set values. EPCD will then make the necessary adjustments for feed back control. With an air driven, fast action valve, the rejection system ensures targeted tablets are rejected individually. This rejection method will minimize the total number of rejected tablets.
Our Pressure Control Device is also utilized for various types of Punch/Tablet monitoring. To the benefit of the machine operator, the pressure data populates different graphs that can warn you of potential time consuming irregularities
PAS (PLC based tableting data Acquisition System) is an application to acquire and save the measured data with PCD (Automatic Pressure control device), TT (Tablet Tester) and PLC (Main Programmable Logic Controller) on all of Kikusui presses.

PTOLEMY is the integrated continuous production system to aim at reducing production time and cost for solid formulation. It consists of Powder constant feeder (POLARIS), Continuous blender (CRATER ARIES), NIR Blend uniformity checker (SPICA), Rotary tablet press (AQUARIUS series etc) and Built in tablet visual inspection module (AURIGA). Powder constant feeder (POLARIS) provides each raw material with definite quantity to the blending process.
Continuous blender (CRATER ARIES) is the combined system with vertical mixer and Horizontal blender to maximize blending performance and minimize production space.
NIR Blend uniformity checker (SPICA) is real time monitoring for blending uniformity. Rotary tablet press (AQUARIUS series etc) produces the tablets according to the blending yield and condition on upstream process. Built in tablet visual inspection module (AURIGA) transfers produced tablets with sequential order from tablet discharge portion and performs tablet visual inspection by camera.
